Purpose & Mission

Our Purpose

Purpose & MissionTherapies used in the treatment of cancer and blood disorders can be extremely costly. Independent physicians purchase the drugs used in treatment in advance, then bill insurance. While insurance companies generally pay much of treatment costs, they do not always pay all of them. They pay only for covered services less any co-pays, coinsurance, and deductibles patients are contractually obligated to pay and which the provider is contractually obligated to collect. These patient obligations range as high as $5,000 – $10,000 per family per year. In cancer care, this can represent the patient’s responsibility for as little as one chemotherapy session. Clearly, most families would struggle with this unexpected financial burden.

Our Mission

The mission of The Northern Utah Cancer Foundation is to provide funding for patients who may not be able to qualify for other charitable funding to help pay for their care; who cannot afford to pay their premiums (primary or secondary insurance), deductibles, co-pays and the very high out-of-pocket maximums patients now often face; transportation to their appointments; temporary housing, support for patients in food-scarcity situations, etc.

We also seek to provide other support, assistance, and comfort to cancer patients in their time of crisis.
